Computer Procurement Aid
(Computer-Paten)
Our new cooperation project with Lichterkette e.V. has started. The procurement of digital end devices for distance learning or alternate learning is unfortunately still a big problem for many people in need: Many still do not have a computer device and therefore cannot participate in the online sessions of the (vocational) schools. If some attempts have already failed to obtain a computer/laptop/tablet through known channels, it can be a help - especially for people with a refugee or migration background - to have an informed person at your side who supports with know-how about possibilities.
Partnership with Lichterkette
The "Lichterkette e.V." and the "Global Shapers München e.V." would now like to offer this support to persons with a refugee or migration background in a cooperation project.
The idea is simple: the person who is in need of a device contacts us via WhatsApp and is referred to a volunteer, trained "computer mentor or in German - Paten". These first check whether there are public procurement opportunities that have not yet been exhausted. If this is not the case, they try to support through individual applications, requests for donations, or their personal or other networks. Computer mentors supported the students/trainees up to the installation of the required programs to be able to participate in class.

Reason why the laptop is needed
A trained individual will then contact the person looking for a laptop/end device. If you yourself are interested in becoming a computer mentor and supporting someone with a refugee or migration background, please feel free to contact us. We will support you with all the knowledge you need. The mentorships are limited in time and ideal for a non-binding commitment for 1-3 months. We as Global Shapers are looking forward to this new cooperation.
