Medical Aid to Ukraine

IMPACT
Hospitals in Ukraine are quickly running out of the necessary medicine and aid. Our fellow shapers in Lviv have sent us a specific list of medicine and medical equipment needed, which comes directly from Ukraine’s Ministry of Health.
PROBLEM TO SOLVE
Saving the lives of citizens and residents is one of Ukraine’s utmost priorities right now. By providing the requested medicine and aid, the Global Shapers are assisting in this.
OUR SOLUTION
We have a four-pronged approach: fundraising, marketing, procurement, and transportation.
Fundraising began with our GoFundMe, which was initially spread through social media. Now our main fundraising includes our outreach to non-pharmaceutical companies. Concurrently we are also working on partnerships with other organizations in Germany.
Marketing of the project is aimed at small pharmaceutical companies that do not have plans for donations or sales to Ukraine. We also aim for the publication about the project in one newspaper.
Procurement will take place multiple times with the funds raised for medicine that is not donated. Our supplier is the München Klinik, through which we have already purchased around €100,000-worth of medication, equaling more than 15 tons of medicine.
Transportation from Germany to Ukraine is taken over by the Ukrainische Ärztevereinigung in Deutschland e.V..

Our Partnerships with the München Klinik and the Ukrainische Ärztevereinigung
The Munich Hub is responsible for the procurement of the medicine. With the funds, the City of Munich has graciously given us access to the medication from München Klinik pharmacy. The UÄVD delivers the medicine to the required spot in Lviv, as designated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.
What’s next
The process began shortly after the invasion. The project will be completed once all aspects of medicine shipment and payment are complete!
Lviv is responsible for the receipt of the aid and informing us of any changes in needs.
