Climate Café

PROBLEM TO SOLVE

Many falsely assume that the climate problem is beyond their reach and do not realize that they can contribute to the solution with minor daily life changes. Others do not have access to information or are too lazy to tackle the topic but would be happy to contribute if someone pointed them in the right direction. Finally, a minority might have been exposed to too much pseudo-science. Helping these different groups build a better-studied opinion on the topic and figure out how they can create a positive impact by creating an environment for active dialogue.

OUR SOLUTION

The climate café is a panel for interested individuals to discuss climate challenges and how they can help create impact locally and globally. As the climate café community grows, it will foster an increased momentum for environmental action and offer space for interested people to put efforts together as a community. Having such an initiative brings like-minded people together in a safe space to share ideas and take concrete actions.

This is not only about education, but a more safe space to exchange ideas and thoughts while enjoying and meeting like-minded people motivated to take action. The idea has the potential to scale up and become a climate maker space. It can be easily performed in other cities and countries as well to increase the baseline.

IMPACT

The climate cafe project is runnings for more than two years now. So far, we have successfully conducted more than 20 monthly climate cafe sessions with 800+ participants and various guest speakers creating an environment for active dialogue for the local population in Munich. We have tackled various topics including:

  • Food, diet, and sustainability

  • Female leadership in the climate movement

  • Green Hydrogen

  • Sustainable Aviation

  • Carbon removal technologies

WHAT’S NEXT?

We plan a monthly climate café every third Thursday of the month.
Our goal is to have a community where people connect and collaborate in order to start climate action activities in their cities.

You want to join the next Climate Cafe? Register via Eventbrite where we will post the event one to two weeks before!
